PSG extend Ligue 1 lead with 3-1 win at Lorient
Mbappé, Dembele and Messi on target as PSG close in on title
Paris Saint-Germain extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to 15 points with a 3-1 win at Lorient on Wednesday.
Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi scored the goals for PSG, who are now on the brink of a record-extending 11th Ligue 1 title.
Mbappé opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a clinical finish from the left side of the box. Dembele doubled PSG's lead in the 28th minute with a low drive from the edge of the area.
Messi made it 3-0 in the 56th minute with a trademark free-kick from 25 yards out. Lorient pulled a goal back through Terem Moffi in the 78th minute, but it was too little too late.
"We're very happy with the win," said PSG coach Christophe Galtier. "We knew it would be a tough game, but we showed our quality and got the three points."
PSG are now 15 points clear of second-placed Marseille with six games remaining. They can clinch the title on Saturday if they beat Lens at home.
