Joe Bryant, the father of late NBA legend Kobe Bryant, has died at the age of 69. According to La Salle University, where Bryant served as an assistant coach, he passed away unexpectedly. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Bryant played eight seasons in the NBA, primarily with the Philadelphia 76ers. After his NBA career, he went on to become a successful college basketball coach, leading the women's team at La Salle University for the past four years.

Bryant was also the father of Chubby Cox, a former NBA player. His son, Kobe Bryant, was a five-time NBA champion and one of the most celebrated basketball players in history. Kobe Bryant tragically died in a helicopter crash in 2020.
