DC Half Marathon Will Close These Streets Sunday

Runners will take to the streets of the District on Sunday for the DC Half Marathon, and several roads will be closed to accommodate the race.

The race will start at 7:30 a.m. at Freedom Plaza and will finish at the National Mall. The course will take runners through downtown D.C., Georgetown, and Foggy Bottom.

The following streets will be closed to traffic on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.:

  • Pennsylvania Avenue NW from 15th Street NW to 12th Street NW
  • 12th Street NW from Pennsylvania Avenue NW to Independence Avenue SW
  • Independence Avenue SW from 12th Street NW to 4th Street SW
  • 4th Street SW from Independence Avenue SW to Maine Avenue SW
  • Maine Avenue SW from 4th Street SW to 6th Street SW
  • 6th Street SW from Maine Avenue SW to M Street SW
  • M Street SW from 6th Street SW to 23rd Street NW
  • 23rd Street NW from M Street SW to Constitution Avenue NW
  • Constitution Avenue NW from 23rd Street NW to 17th Street NW
  • 17th Street NW from Constitution Avenue NW to Pennsylvania Avenue NW

Drivers are advised to avoid the area or use alternate routes during the race.

The DC Half Marathon is one of the largest road races in the United States, with more than 20,000 participants. The race benefits the Children's National Medical Center.
