Stanley Cup Playoffs: Ducks Name Radko Gudas Captain

Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks have named defenseman Radko Gudas as their captain for the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Gudas takes over the role from Adam Henrique, who had served as captain since 2021.

Gudas, 32, has been a key member of the Ducks' blue line since being acquired in a trade with the Florida Panthers in 2021. He is known for his physical play and leadership.

The Ducks are hoping that Gudas can help lead them to their first Stanley Cup since 2007.

Radko Gudas

Gudas was born in Kladno, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic) on June 5, 1990. He began his professional career in 2008 with HC Kladno of the Czech Extraliga.

In 2010, Gudas was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the fourth round (120th overall) of the NHL Entry Draft.

Gudas made his NHL debut with the Lightning in 2012. He has also played for the Philadelphia Flyers and Panthers.

Gudas has represented the Czech Republic at the world championships and the Olympics.

Expectations for the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Ducks are not considered to be a contender for the Stanley Cup this year.

However, they have a solid team with a good mix of young talent and experienced veterans.

The Ducks will need to play well as a team and get some key performances from their top players if they want to make a run in the playoffs.
